For as long as I can remember, cancer has been affecting my loved ones: more have been taken by this dreadful disease than I care to count, and the lives of many others have been changed forever by a cancer diagnosis.

About the campaign
I began actively ‘fighting’ cancer in May 2008, when my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In the spring of 2013, to mark the five-year anniversary of my dad’s triumph over prostate cancer, I wanted to do something significant to celebrate this landmark occasion.
Paying tribute to his love of cycling seemed appropriate, and so I committed myself to Team LIVESTRONG, a group of cyclists dedicated to raising awareness and funds, to help people affected by cancer right now.
Within days of making this decision we learned that my mother had follicular lymphoma. I now had two very personal, very important reasons to celebrate and ride with Team LIVESTRONG. I continue to ride for both of my parents; in memory of Dad, and his nearly 9-years of cancer survivorship; and in honor of Mom, who continues to live with lymphoma.
The funds that we raise will allow the LIVESTRONG Foundation to provide cancer patients and survivors with crucial programs and services, including: financial assistance, navigation services, health and nutrition counseling, fertility services, educational programs, and much, much more, all free of charge!
Thank you so much for helping me honor my parents, Frank & Ruthann; and for helping the LIVESTRONG Foundation provide life-saving support to cancer patients and survivors. If one person can fight cancer, together we can defeat cancer!
